Stop Silent® SL13

Water in the Basement?

Flooded basement?

Costly renovations of damaged rooms? A thing of the past for households that protect themselves against backflowing wastewater with a Stop Silent® SL13 backflow preventer.

Emotional and financial damage

In addition to immense damage to facilities and furniture, it is above all emotional stress that makes water damage a major burden, especially in the case of a sewer system backwater.

Flooded basement at a new building (real case)

Lupsingen Canton Baselland. The aspiring village has experienced a real building boom in recent years. The Hartmann family also decided to build in this picturesque village in the canton of Baselland.

The unfavourable location, as the lowest house on the street, gave the Hartmanns two sewage infiltrations into the basement within a short time.

Just in order to dry the parquet floor of their basement, the Hartmann family had to run a dehumidification machine for several weeks. Including sleepless nights due to the noise of these machines.

Sewer system at capacity limit

Heavy rainfall, combined with an ever-increasing concrete surface, push sewer systems to their capacity limits. When this limit is reached, the water, in an search for a way out, pushes the quantities of water back into the buildings. This has happened also at the Hartmann family.

Dry feet thanks to Stop Silent® SL13

The Stop Silent® SL13 can be installed in seconds thanks to its clamping mechanism. Depending on requirements, the valve can be installed both at the inlet and outlet of the inspection chamber. The backflow flap also seals in non-circular, oval pipes. The flexible membrane is extremely resistant, low-maintenance and durable.

At Hartmanns, the backflow protection was retrofitted into the inspection chamber and now protects the family from any future flooding.

How the Stop Silent® SL13 backflow flap works

The membrane of the Stop Silent® SL13 backflow preventer is closed as standard when installed.
and is firmly anchored in the pipe using an expander clamp.

As soon as wastewater from the toilet, bathroom or other sources hits the closed membrane, pressure builds up, opening the sealing lip upwards and allowing the wastewater to drain away unhindered. As soon as the water flow stops, the sealing lip automatically closes again and closes the backflow flap.

In the event of a backflow from the sewer system, the sealing lip of the rubber membrane is pressed downwards against the pipe wall, closing the pipe force-fit. This effectively prevents backed-up wastewater from entering lower-lying rooms such as cellars.
