Prior to Installation - Stop Silent Light Checklist

1. Installation und internal diameter

  • Stop Silent Light (SSL) is the only backwater device that can be force-fitted into a pipeline with an expander clamp. Installation is possible from both sides (with the flow or against the flow). Usually Stop Silent Light is installed horizontally (at least 2% slope) in waste water pipes. Vertical installation is possible in rainwater pipes.

  • In order to offer you the suitable valve, it is necessary that we know the exact internal pipe diameter of the pipe to be secured. If the internal pipe diameter corresponds to the specified clamping range, the respective nominal size is suitable for installation. The Allen key for fixing the backwater valve is included in the delivery.
Nominal Diameter (mm)/(in)Clamping Range (mm)/(in)Total Length (mm)/(in)
DN80 / 3.1575-80 / 2.95-3.15180 / 7.08
DN100 / 3.9493-102 / 3.66-3.98215/ 8.46
DN110 / 4.3398-106/ 3.86-4.17230/ 9.06
DN125 / 4.92115-125/ 4.53-4.9270/ 10.63

  • For intermediate diameters, we provide adapters
How do we use an adapter?

2. Pipe access

  • In the inspection/control chamber either in the outlet or in the inlet.

- In the outlet, at least the cylindrical section of the valve must be inserted into the pipe to ensure force-fit clamping.
- In the inlet, the entire valve (see overall length) must be able to be inserted so that the diaphragm can seal.

  • At the beginning or end of a pipeline (e.g. elevated)

3. Minimal gradient

  • In the sewag a constant gradient of 2%
  • In rain water a constant gradient of 1%

4. Kind of the fluid?

  • privat or industrial sewage
  • rain water

5. Installation in the shafts inflow or outflow?

  • If no large quantities of rainwater flow into the inspection shaft, the valve should be installed in the outlet. During the backwater, no more water will flow off and the shaft thus serves as a reservoir for its own water. If there is a large amount of rainwater, we recommend installing the valve in the pipe depending on the area to be protected.

  • If there are several inlets into the inspection shaft with different slopes (<2%) and different types of water, it is recommended to additionally secure the inlet with the lowest slope with a StopSilent Light. This prevents deposits of dirt particles in this area as well as odor nuisance.

  • Recommended minimum height under floor is 30 cm. This guarantees a higher drainage capacity.
  • For small pipe diameters, the valve can be lubricated with soapy water. NO GREASE, NO OIL!

6. house internal sewage system

  • In the event of a backwater, Stop Silent Light prevents the backflow, but also no water can flow out! It is important that no large amounts of water (rainwater or domestic sewage) flow into this area, because the reservoir volume is limited. If this area is exhausted, it comes to the overflow at the next overflow edge (eg floor drain, shower, toilet, etc.).
