Odour traps for retrofitting in waste water pipes

  • Backwater valves
  • Odor traps
Odour traps for the protection of sewer gases from sewage pipes and the protection of the return flow of rainwater or sewage from the sewer system.

Our non-return/odour valves

In summer, when the sewer system warms up, effluent moves through the pipes due to small temperature differences. Bad odours then emerge from the sewer system and enter the building. Our Stop Silent Light backwater valve will solve this problem quickly and reliably thanks to its odor trap function. In addition, our check valve acts as a nose check valve (anti-frog) and prevents small animals from entering the pipe. Its main function is still its reliable protection system against backflow of pipe water with a back pressure of up to 0.5 bar

Advantages of the Stop Silent Light odour trap

  • Odour trap as frog or amphibian flap
  • Odour trap with reliable backflow protection
  • High longevity
  • Quick and easy installation

Do you need an odour trap?

Sewer gases that pass through the canal system back into properties and causing unpleasant odor nuisances. This issue can be permanently solved with a Stop Silent Light backflow prevention valve.

Take precautions against unpleasant odors

These bad odors can be avoided with a Stop Silent Light backflow prevention valve.

A key feature of this system is the so called odour trap. This shutter seals the sewer pipe and prevents the chimney effect.

This stack effect is related to the movement of gas from the sewer to the surface of the plate to enter buildings.

The diffusion of these odours is prevented by the elastomer membrane of the Stop Silent Light valve. This membrane is airtight and always in closed position.

Functionality of our Backwater valve

Our Stop Silent Light valve adopts a closed position in case of backflow of pipe water. In fact, when water accumulates, pressure is exerted on the membrane and the sealing lip opens upwards. The wastewater flow can flow freely. When the flow stops, the sealing lip is restored and the valve closes again. The valve is designed to withstand a back pressure of up to 0.5 bar. Another function of our check valve is to prevent the intrusion of small animals thanks to its nose valve (anti-frog) function.

Installation sizes of the odour traps

Our Stop Silent Light valve is available in the following sizes.

Inner pipe diameter:

  • 80 mm
  • 100 mm
  • 110 mm
  • 125 mm
  • 150 mm
  • 200 mm
  • 250 mm
  • 300 mm
  • Larger on request

Application examples of Stop Silent Light

The city of Bern trusts us!

In 2013, Stop Silent Light check-valves were installed in the city network of Bern.

A huge backwater flap with a diameter of DN800 was installed in a pipe line of the city sewers. The valve, which can be installed in just a few minutes, was inserted into the existing pipe.

The non-return valve convinced and satisfied the city of Bern as it has been working reliably and sustainably since it was installed.
